Mexico! :)

This past summer I got the chance to go to Mexico for a Spanish trip. It was the best nine days of my life! I got to see Mayan ruins, eat authentic Mexican food, lay on the beach and use my Spanish speaking skills.
The first place we got to go to was Chichen Itza which is a Mayan ruin site. It's one of the Seven Wonders of the World so it was really cool to see in person.

The next place we traveled to was a cenote called Ik Kil. A cenote is a natual, underground pool of water. It was the coolest thing I've ever seen. We actually got to swim with fish in the cenote. There was also a 16 foot high ledge we could jump off of.

After the cenote, we went to Uxmal which is another ruin site.

After Uxmal we traveled to Palenque. On the way there we stopped at a town called Campeche. This town is interesting in the fact that a wall surrounds the entire town. This is so pirates could be kept out of the city a long time ago.

Once in Palenque, we visited another ruin site. This one was by far my favorite because of the jungle that surrounded it. We could actually hear monkies!

Here's a picture of my boyfriend! Just kidding. He was out tour guide while in Mexico. His name is Elias but I couldn't remember it to save my life so I called him Elliot.

In Palenque, we got to explore the city. We went shopping and went out to eat. While we were eating 2 guys came up to us and tried to sell us jewelry. They would tell us how pretty we are. It was the best feeling in the world!

After we left Palenque we got to go swim by a waterfall. It was really cool. I'd never seen a waterfall before so I was amazed.

Merida was easily my favorite part of the trip. We finally got to go off on our own in the city. We shopped for hours and just hung out.
My favorite part of Merida was meeting the break dancers in the "Centro". This is where I met my "boyfriend" Jose!

We also got to visit an orphanage in Merida. I loved it there! The kids were really nice and loved the gifts that we bought them. I actually ended up crying while at the orphanage because I was so happy for the kids.

After Merida we went to Cancun to get on a boat and travel to Isla Mujeres.
Our bus driver, Felipe, was awesome! Since I gave Elias an American name, I thought Felipe needed one too. So I called him Phil.

Isla Mujeres was absolutely gorgeous. The water was so blue and clear! The beaches were amazing! The sand was really white! I spent a whole day just chilling on the beach. I couldn't believe how salty the water was!

My favorite part of Isla Mujeres was swimming with the dolphins. It's something I've wanted to do my whole life!

This is definately the best picture from the entire trip. Sorry Liliana! :)
